Sweet and Sour Sticky Tofu Steak
1 -Tofu block cut in steak form about half an inch thick. You will need about 4-5 steaks for this recipe.
Coat the tofu with turmeric powder and salt and place in the oven for 25 minutes at 190 degrees Celsius.
Do not add oil. This dry baking process will allow the tofu to become "meatier"
In the meantime, make the sauce.
For the Sweet and Sticky Sauce:
2 tablespoons grape seed oil
2-- 1 garlic cloves minced
2-3-- Shallots chopped
1-2 inch ginger chopped
1-- (red chili (optional)
1/3 cup of maple syrup
1/3 cup of soy sauce - I recommend low sodium
2 teaspoons. Rice vinegar
1 teaspoon Sesame oil
Tapioca Sauce Thickener
2 - teaspoon of tapioca flour
2 - teaspoon of tapioca flour
2 tbsp water

How to Prepare your sauce:
In the pan, over medium heat add your grape seed oil along with the chopped garlic, ginger and shallots. Cook for 2 minutes, but take care you do not burn the garlic!

Sesame Seeds
Fresh chopped Coriander
How to Prepare your sauce:
In the pan, over medium heat add your grape seed oil along with the chopped garlic, ginger and shallots. Cook for 2 minutes, but take care you do not burn the garlic!
Combine the soy sauce with the maple syrup in a separate bowl and whisk.
Then, add rice vinegar and sesame oil to the mixture, mix well and then add this to your pan.
Cook for 3-5 minutes on medium heat until all the flavors have combined.
Now make your tapioca sauce thickener. In a small bowl, combine the 2 tsp of Tapioca flour with 2 tbsp water.
Mix this until it is well dissolved. Add the tapioca-water to the sauce and mix again. Let the sauce cook until it becomes thick and sticky. While this is happening, add your baked tofu to the pan.
To achieve the sticky sauce, you may need to turn the heat up a bit. ! Do it with caution, so as not to burn the garlic and have your sauce turn bitter. Once you are finished add your toppings:
Cook for 3-5 minutes on medium heat until all the flavors have combined.
